Lab Report Format
General Information: (5 points) ¨ Title, Name, Grade/Section, & Date on top right hand side of first page ¨ 12 font, Times New Roman, be consistent throughout paper ¨ Double spaced ¨ Major sections must be in Bold, 14 font. ¨ Spelling
I.) Purpose: State question, hypothesis, and purpose of the experiment. Should be written in paragraph form. (5 points)
II.) Procedure: Simply write in paragraph form how the experiment was performed. Write in sequential order. Include only major materials used. (5 points)
III.) Results: Show data collected during experiment, both quantitative (measurable, deals with numbers) and qualitative (can not be measured, deals with descriptions). Do not try to explain the results. Use charts, graphs, tables, pictures, and calculation. All data groups: tables, charts, graphs, etc. must be titled. You must show at least one example of each calculation made, include the formula used. Make note of all qualitative observations, no matter how minimal they seem. (10 points)
IV.) Discussion: Explain your results section (above) and draw conclusions. The discussion section should show me that you understand the experiment and the data you collected. (10 points)
