BMS BAND ROCKS!





Welcome to the BMS Band weekly information page! The BMS Bands are having a wonderful school year and invite you to visit our classroom to hear many of the exciting new musical selections we are rehearsing!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Concert Band students are invited to perform with the DHS Marching Band on Friday, September 26, 2008.  Students will rehearse with the DHS Marching Band on Thursday, September 25, 2008 from 5:00 to 6:30 pm in the DHS Band Room.  Students should meet @ Ogle Stadium @ 6:00 pm on Friday evening.   Parents should make arrangements to pick his/her child up @ approximately 8:30pm. 



THIS WEEK IN MRS. TURNEY'S CLASSES!

CONCERT BAND

1. Students should bring his/her instrument and Developmental Workbook to class daily.


JAZZ BAND

1.  The Jazz Band will perform at the Red Ribbon March on Saturday, October 4, 2008 @ 8:30 in the parking lot across from the courthouse.  Students should wear their BMS Band shirt.  Parents are welcome to attend:)


BEGINNING BAND

1. Students should bring his/her instrument and Standard of Excellence Method Book 1 to school daily.

2. Students should bring his/her band folder to class daily.

3.  Students will learn the following skills:

  • properly assemble instrument.
  • correct posture, hand position and embouchure.
  • produce a good sound on his/her instrument's mouthpiece.
  • play Concert D and C with a good tone


READING/7 HABITS

1. Students should bring his/her materials to class daily.

2. Students will learn strategies to use when reading textbooks and novels.

3. Students will read and begin practicing the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.
