Art Grade 7, 8 and 9

ART Grade 7

The students have been studying the element of line by using primary and secondary contour lines to be used on a grid drawing.  Students have selected a picture that shows values 1 - 10, put a grid on the picture and translated that into a larger grid on drawing paper.  At this point, students should have completed this and should be drawing their picture.  Once this is completed, this will be transferred to good drawing paper where they will begin shading and highlighting their drawing matching the values to their picture.  No due date has been established at this time.

ART Grade 8

The students have been practicing lettering styles for their calligraphy project.  We have moved into planning their project which will include a written part from a poem, song, saying, etc. in a calligraphy style of their choosing.  Included in the project is an illustration that matches their written work.  No due date has been given at this time.

ART Grade 9

The students are finishing the fourth drawing in a series of five drawing they have been working on.  So far they have completed line work, pencil smudging and pointillism.  Currently they are working on their crosshatching drawing.  All their work is being done in their sketchbook.  The crosshatching drawing is due:  Wednesday, February 15.  Their work will be critiqued at that time.
