Understanding Demonstrated- Student has a solid understanding of concepts, skills, and knowledge.

D - Developing

Growth Demonstrated- Student Demonstrates progress but lack s full understanding.

B - Beginning

Beginning Stages- Student Demonstrates an emerging interest in concepsts being taught.

N - Not Yet Performing

Assistance Required- Student lacks understanding and requires teacher support.





For grades 4-8



Marking Codes:

O - Outstanding

S - Satisfactory

I - In need of Improvement

U - Unsatisfactory



Understands concepts:

Student has comprehended concept(s) introduced in lesson and has expressed this to me in written form, visually, and/or verbally through questions answered or work produced.



Applies new skills and concepts in unique ways:

Student has applied new skills and concepts learned in class in a way that shows comprehension and creative thinking have occurred. Student has a creative and original way of working with concepts and ideas.



Uses materials and time effectively:

Student has utilized the materials and tools available to him/her in an effective manner. The effectiveness is to be determined by the creative and proper use of the materials. Student is prepared for class and works at a steady pace throughout the production of the project. Student has a basic plan for their work, and doesn’t waste materials by rushing.



Completes work(s) in a timely manner:

Student completes artwork(s) with all the necessary requirements in the allotted amount of time given for the project. If the student has encountered difficulties, these have been addressed and corrected within the time limit.



Observes classroom rules:

Student has followed all the rules for art class and corrected their behavior according to the teacher's instructions.
