It is that time of the year again.  We need to complete our round of conferences.  Please let me know which day or time is convenient.  I am available to meet on any school day. Please contact me about the best time for you!

Why a child may respond inappropriately at school?

 

o       May lack self confidence

o       Is tired after staying up late

o       May not feel well

o       May suffer from poor nutrition

o       May have messy/disorganized habits

o       May have emotional problems

o       May have stress at home

o       Feels defiant

o       Cannot concentrate

o       Does not understand what is being explained

o       Is not in the habit of listening at home

o       Is indifferent to school

If a student is ill, the teachers will contact you. You may be asked to pick up your child.

 

Allergies:  Please let us know of any allergies that your child may have, especially with food.  We may at times prepare special snacks and it would be helpful to know when we plan a treat.

          Children are asked NOT to bring toys from home.  They will have enough to do here at school.  The toys become distracting and are not made for large group use.  We cannot be held responsible if a toy becomes broken or lost.

Language, Vocabulary, and Early Literacy

Listens to others with understanding (particularly in one-on-one situations) 

Listens attentively to a short story and especially to stories about himself or herself

Shows an increase in vocabulary with the majority of words spoken being understood by the teacher/caregiver

 Mathematical Concepts

Recognizes and identifies shapes such as squares, circles, triangles, and rectangles

Scientific Investigations

Begins to recognize characteristics of different seasons and describe weather

Recognizes basic colors (e.g., red, blue, green, yellow, etc.)

Demonstrates growing independence in hygiene, toileting, nutrition, and personal care
