Welcome to our class's webpage!

Please visit our site regularly to remain informed on school activities.
Spring Break is April 4-15. I hope the students have a wonderful break and will be re-energized for the last quarter.

We have had a great school year! The dedication and hard work of our students has helped them gain in learning this year.
  • Technology is a great motivator with children for practicing academic skills. Using a computer at home or the public library can reinforce skills in a fun way. At the bottom of this webpage are educational websites to explore. Ask the kids about our Activeboard in our classroom. They are enjoying learning with it and helping each other use the technology pen.

  • Cooperative Learning is important to engage students. We keep a routine and structure in our class that facilitates maximum learning experiences. Student behavior affects the effectiveness of a learning group. Please review the Behavior Plan and sign daily your child's behavior sheet. Behavior Sheets are returned every day with a parent's signature. Students earn a behavior dollar when it is returned signed the next day. Homework brought to class when due is another behavior dollar earned. Extra homework activities will also earn a behavior dollar. Students who earn a 100 on their spelling test receive 5 behavior dollars. Please see the list of these activities that were sent home at the beginning of the schoolyear. On Friday, the prize box is open to students that have earned enough behavior dollars throughout the week for good behavior!
  • We have trophies earned for good behavior during each small group activity. This helps students to regulate their own behavior within a short period of time. It also helps them to remember to stay focused and to participate within the group session. Students receive a small reward at the end of that day if they have the designated amount of trophies in their possession.

  •

  • Yellow Folders of completed classwork go home on Friday. Please empty and return the folders on Monday. Review with your child his/her accomplishments and areas of improvement. Please remember to sign your child's spelling test and return it on Monday, too.

  • Have a special reading time with your child, discussing the stories after they have been read. Write the title on the Homework Sheet that is signed each night . This will help foster a love of reading in them and create a special time for you and your child! Students earn a cereal box of their choice when they have read 4/5 nights per week for 9 weeks. They get so excited to see it in their cubby one morning for all their hard work!
Return Spelling homework daily in your child's agenda. Homework is given Monday through Thursday nights. Spelling tests are given on Friday. A child receives an extra 5 behavior dollars for making a 100 on the Spelling test. Practice spelling the words aloud at home, in the car, at the dinner table, etc. to help with memorization. Your child is given extra credit on the test for reading a sight word and giving the definition of a vocabulary word. These words are located on the Homework Sheet for the Week.
