FOR ALL STUDENTS - TO BE WRITTEN INTO YOUR AGENDA!

NOTE: Due dates for written classwork and homework are as listed below. If work is turned in late, without an excused absence, then the work will be graded for 1/2 credit. After 5 class days, the work will NOT be given credit. Students are to keep their agenda current and turn in make-up work on time!

Monday 5/28: Memorial Day Holiday. School closed.

Monday Homework: Complete your science written assignment. Instructions are listed in the "Downloads" area below. Spanish class exams on Tuesday 5/29.

Tuesday 5/29: TURN IN YOUR SCIENCE WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT! Begin Fusion Unit 9, Lesson 1 - Energy and Matter in Ecosystems. See the 6 vocabulary terms listed in the green box on Fusion page 485. We will WRITE definitions for each of these terms in class. READ Fusion pages 485-487. WRITE AN ANSWER to question #6 on Fusion page 486

Tuesday Homework: Think about energy and matter as they are described on Fusion page 487. Spanish class exams on Wednesday 5/30.

Wednesday 5/30: Learn the Law of Conservation of Energy and the Law of Conservation of Mass from Fusion page 487. Complete the Venn diagram (question #8) on Fusion page 487.

Wednesday Homework: Please check Pinnacle Web to make sure that all of your grades have been recorded. Band concert at 7:00 PM.

Thursday 5/31: Learn what happens when Diet coke and Mentos are mixed together!

Friday 6/1: Learn about energy movement through an ecosystem. READ Fusion page 488. Learn about the Carbon Cycle on Fusion page 490. Learn where carbon is found. Tuesday 5/22: Learn about biotic and abiotic factors. View the Fusion online PowerPoint presentation from this chapter.

Wednesday 5/23: Read and learn about populations and species. READ Fusion page 416.

Wednesday Homework: Think about how you are going to answer the 3 written science questions. The due date is Tuesday May 29th.

Thursday 5/24: Complete Fusion Lesson 8, Lesson 1 - Introduction to Ecology. READ Fusion pages 412-415. How are all living things connected? WRITE ANSWERS to questions #5, #6 and #7 on Fusion pages 414-415. See and learn the vocabulary words in the "Flashcards" area below.

Thursday Homework: Finish writing and proofreading your 3 science written answers. They are due on Tuesday May 29th.

Tuesday 5/15: Continue HIV/AIDS Education. Learn where Florida and Broward County rank in HIV infection rates.

Tuesday Homework: Think about what age group is most affected by HIV and AIDS. Return your Holt Science Red textbook. If you would like to do the "Flour Baby" lab on your own, (i.e. not for credit), you can download the instructions at the "Downloads" link above.

Wednesday 5/16: Complete our AIDS/HIV Education. Complete the Post Test. Receive instructions for your 3 written science questions. It is due on or before Tuesday May 29th. Instructions may be downloaded from the "Downloads" link above.

Wednesday Homework: Think about how you are going to answer the 3 written science questions. The due date is Tuesday May 29th. Return your Holt Science Red textbook.

Monday Homework: Return your signed Family Life/Human Sexuality/HIV/AIDS Education permission forms. See if you can find any genetically engineered items in your home. (Hint: Look in your kitchen!)

Tuesday 5/8: Continue Fusion Unit 7, Lesson 2 - The Impact of Biotechnology. READ Fusion pages 398-400. WRITE ANSWERS to questions #13, #14 and #15 on Fusion page 400. Review the meaning of the 4 vocabulary terms on page 393 that you defined on Monday. Receive your 4th quarter interim reports during 6th period.

Tuesday Homework: Prepare for a possible Biotechnology vocabulary quiz on Wednesday.

Wednesday 5/9: Use your Science Fusion textbook to help you WRITE CORRECT, COMPLETE ANSWERS to the "Lesson Review" questions #1 through #8 on Fusion page 401. Be prepared for a Biotechnology vocabulary quiz before class ends.

Wednesday Homework: Complete the Lesson Review on Fusion page 401.

Thursday 5/10: TURN IN YOUR LESSON REVIEW ANSWERS. We will begin Fusion Unit 8, Lesson 1 - "Introduction to Ecology". READ Fusion pages 412-415. WRITE ANSWERS to questions #5, #6 and #7 on Fusion pages 414-415.

REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR LUNCH WITH YOU! Students not going on the field trip are to go to Mrs. Bowman's classroom in room #1910 today.

Wednesday 5/2: Use your Science Fusion textbook to learn about the stages of the cell cycle. WRITE CORRECT, COMPLETE ANSWERS to questions #6 on Fusion page 317 through question #13 on page 321. If you have time, answer the "Visual Summary" questions on Fusion page 322.

Thursday 5/3: Complete the "Lesson Review" on Fusion page 323. WRITE YOUR NAME AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE and turn in your answers before you leave class.

Friday 5/4: Learn about Meiosis. We will WRITE ANSWERS to questions #9, #11 and #12 on Fusion pages 329-330. Study the diagram of meiosis on Fusion pages 328-329.

Monday 4/23: Study Heredity {again} from the Holt Science and Technology BLUE textbook in class. We will read Section 1 on pages 568-573 to review Mendel's work. WRITE CORRECT ANSWERS TO questions #1, 4, 6 and 8 from Holt BLUE page 573 on your own paper. Receive your Family Life/Human Sexuality/HIV/AIDS Education permission forms to get signed and returned by Friday 4/27.

Monday Homework: Get your Sex Education permission forms signed and returned. Download and review the two Holt BLUE study notes from the "Downloads" area above. Review the vocabulary terms.

Tuesday 4/24: Continue Holt BLUE Chapter 19, Section 2. We will read Section 2 on pages 574 through 579. Use your prior week's homework to review and learn the vocabulary words listed on Holt BLUE page 574.

Tuesday Homework: Study your Heredity vocabulary and READ the two Holt BLUE study notes from the "Downloads" area above.

Wednesday 4/25: READ and REVIEW the "Making a Punnett Square" from Holt BLUE page 576. SOLVE the "Connection to Chemistry" problem at the bottom of Holt BLUE page 577.

Wednesday Homework: WRITE CORRECT ANSWERS to questions #6, 7, 8 and 9 from Holt BLUE page 579. Turn these in before you leave class. Complete a vocabulary worksheet given to you in class.

Thursday 4/26: Complete 2 more Heredity worksheets in class. Use Holt BLUE pages 568-579 to help you find the correct answers. Turn in this worksheet before you leave class on Friday.

Friday 4/27: Complete another Heredity worksheet in class. Turn in your completed worksheets and written answers from Holt BLUE pages 572 and 579.

Friday Homework: Remember that the Museum of Discovery and Science Field Trip is on Monday 4/30. BRING A BAG LUNCH THAT DOES NOT NEED REFRIGERATION! Please arrive to your first period class on time.
