Sept. 10 Today we IDed the main figures in the story of the Lost Colony of Roanoke. Tonights homework is to read Sections 1 and 2 of Chp. 2 Sept. 11 The Dire Wolves got their Chp. 1 tests back today. We had a "fake" pop quiz on last nights homework to see who did and did not read their homework. We also reviewed the NC Road Map worksheet. This weekends homework is to finish side 1 of a two page hand out on Chp 2 sections 1 and 2. The handout was started in class. Sept. 18 Today we reviewed the story of the "Lost Colony of Roanoke" We also finished a flow chart for the major events of the Lost Colony (except 3rd period). We will test on the Lost Colony next Tuesday. Here is the study guide for the test: Know who these people are or what the words have to do with the Lost Colony Amada & Barlowe, Lost Colony, Sea Dogs, Roanoke Island, Sir Walter Raleigh, charter, Tobacco, Lane Colony vs. White Colony, John White, Wingina, Manteo, Virginia Dare, Sir Fransis Drake, colony. Also the flow chart from today will be on the test. Sept. 21 Reviewed for the Lost Colony test today. Classes 1,2, 5, and 6 have a fill in worksheet to finish tonight as homework. The worksheet will serve as a review for the test. Third period will have this worksheet after Tuesday's test. A reminder that mid-term grade reports will come home this Friday. Sept. 25 Classes worked in groups today, setting up the 13 Colonies. Tuesday, they will finish up this work. Mid-term grade reports were given out today. Please sign the report and return next Tuesday. Sept. 29 Today was the last day to work on 13 Colonies notes. We will have a notebook quiz on Chp. 3 this Friday. Students who have to finish the notes outside of class can check out class books to finish at home. Oct. 1 Reviewed the worksheet for the southern colonies today. We then began our 13 colonies fact sheet. Friday we have our first nnotebook test of the Qt. Oct. 5 Began the "Causes of the American Revolution" today. We definded key vocabulary words that will be part of Chp. 5 sections 2, 3, and 4. Tonights homework is to finish the 13 Colonies research paper from last Thursday. These papers are due Tuesday. Oct. 7 Finished up Chp. 5 vocabulary today. Began section 2 outline. Tonights homework is to finish 1-4 in sections 2 outline. Oct. 8 Reviewed French and Indian War from section 2. Homework tonight is to finish #5-9 from section 2. Oct. 12 Did a flow chart in class today of all the events covered so far in Chp. 5. The chart served as a review for the Chp. and the homework for Section 3. Today in class, the Dire Wolves began section 4 of Chp. 5. It is homework for tonight. Remember that students can get an on-line version of the American History textbook by going to mrmiz.com and hitting the textbook link. They can then set up a username and password to use for the rest of the year. Students should not use their entire name as their username. Oct. 13 Finish the flow chart on the Causes of the Revoluiton and reviewed section 4 notes today. Began part 1 of the "Founding Fathers" series from the History Channel. We will use this series for a project later in the month. No homework tonight. Oct. 15 Graded Chp. 5 Fill In Worksheet and took a Pop Quiz on Chp. 5 We then added to our notes on the Founding Fathers by watching the second half of Part 1 of the "Founding Fathers" Extra Credit study Guides are due by next Monday, Oct. 19. Oct. 16 Took a notebook test today on Chp. 5. Students who did not finish will have to finish next week during CSI. Extra credit study guides due this Monday. First Blue Diamond assessment is next Tuesday and a major test of "Causes of the American Revolution" is next Thursday. Oct. 19 Added to our "Founding Fathers" facts today by being introduced to Patrick Henry, and Ben Franklin. We also reviewed events in North Carolina leading up to the Revolutionary War. Our focus was on : William Tryon Edmund Fanning regulators Battle of Alamance Mecklingburg Resolves Halifax Resolves Oct. 22 Took test on the Causes of the American Revolution today. Friday we take the Blue Diamond that was re-scheduled from last Tuesday. Oct. 23 Dire Wolves received a Founding Fathers project handout today. The project is due Monday, Nov. 9. No homework this weekend, unless someone wants to work on the project. Oct. 26 Finished the re-write on the Declaration today. We saw the last part of the "Founding Fathers" video. Sign-up sheets are out for students to sign up for their presentation of the Founding Fathers project. Tuesday we begin our Fact Sheet competition on the American Revolution. Oct. 28 For the next two days, we will be working in teams to answer 65 questions on the American Revolution. Thursday, teams will assign unanswered question to team members that will be answered outside of class. Oct. 29 Today was the last day for "in-class" work on the Fact Sheet. All teams divided the un-answered questions among team members to be finished outside of class. The Fact Sheet is due next Monday. Nov. 2 Began our unit on the Constitution today by going over the key terms and people. We will finish up on Tuesday. Founding Fathers projects are due next Monday. Most students have not yet signed up for a presentation date!! Nov. 3 Tonights homework is to read pages 212-217. Nov. 4 Today was spent working on notes for section 2 and 3 of Chp. 7. Section 2 deals with the Constitutional Convention and the different compromises that were part of the Constitution. Section 3 is all about "ratification" of the Constitution. These notes are due Friday. Nov. 6 Reviewed Section 2 and 3 notes for Chp. 7. We began covering the Constitution today. Students have a number of names to look up this weekend that deal with the government. Next Tuesday, all students will recite the Preamble to the Constitution to the class. Founding Father project presentations begin Monday. |
