*Parents, Please take this survey to help me plan for the next semester! Your feedback is important to me! Week of November 2nd - 6th:
Dear Fifth Grade Families,
Welcome to November! I'd like to start the new month by extending my sincere gratitude for offering such wonderful parental support. Having met with most of you for conferences already, it is apparent as to why I have such an awesome class this year. THANK YOU for all that you do to make our fifth grade year the best yet!
The Fall Festival was a giant success and I had an opportunity to see many of you enjoying a fun (but hot) Halloween afternoon. The 5th grade team appreciates your support - from donating items for our basket, to purchasing raffle tickets, last but not least, visiting "Ye Olde Scarecrow Toss"! These proceeds will be returned to our classrooms to used for items we need. Thanks for making this happen!
On another note, your children did a fantastic job with their "Living Character" projects. We presented them to both our class and our 1st grade buddies. I was very impressed with how the characters "came alive" through these clever monologues.
With three weeks left to go before Thanksgiving Break, we will be moving quickly to get as much done as we can before our time off. Beginning this week, we will be starting our new Reading Unit that will focus on series, and how a character may, or not, change over the course of time. In Math, we are starting Chapter 7: Multiplication of Whole Numbers. Even though most of us understand this concept, we will be working on strategies to multiply one and two digit numbers, and evaluate answers for reasonableness before we begin multiplying decimals in Chapter 8. In Writing, we will continue building our realistic fiction stories - developing believable characters, problems and solutions. Social Studies will continue our Enterprise Village Unit in order to be ready for our November 17th field trip date. Finally, we will complete our "Rain in a Bag" Science Unit.
Things to remember:
Looking forward to another great week, Erin Frazier
