Welcome to 1M

It was nice to see everyone at conferences. I enjoyed discussing your child’s academic and social behavior.  We are looking forward to an exciting end of the year.

In Language Arts, we will continue our poetry, narrative and non-fiction writing.

In Social Studies and Science, we will have 2 very important research projects.  One will be a research project on a famous person and the other is a research project on a dinosaur.  Once the students complete their research, they will create a presentation on Pixie and present it to the class.

In Science, we are taking care of marigolds and sunflowers.  You can find our sunflowers growing at Blue Bell School.  We will continue with recording our weather and taking a look at clouds.  We will read a story called Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.  After reading the story, the students will create their own version of Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.

In Math, we will reinforce counting by adding and subtracting with 2 digit numbers.  We will also reinforce skills with our number grid and continue to review fraction concepts.

Thanks again to all of the parent volunteers and your continued support!

Please remember that if your child is out sick you must call the school to let them know.  You must also send in an absence note the day they return. These absences will be considered unexcused if a note does not come in to school.

If you ever have any questions or concerns please email me or send me a note in your child's Take Home Folder.

Please send in a nutritious snack with your child each day. We will have a snack each morning to keep us happy, alert, and ready to learn.

                                              Lunch

Students may either bring a lunch from home or purchase lunch in the cafeteria. Students may bring money in the day they purchase or may pay at the beginning of the week. If a student forgets money, they may charge their lunch. A notice will be sent home that day and the charge must be paid the following day. The cost for a lunch is approximately $2.45.

                                     Take Home Folders

Students will have a folder, which they will bring back and forth from home to school everyday. I will collect the folder each morning and return it to your child every afternoon. It is important that your child does not forget their folder. Please place important notes in the folder, so I will be sure to receive them.
