WOW!!! This is the last week before winter break....so much to be done before the break. Please be sure to keep a routine going this last week. Remember we are collecting canned goods and items for the giving tree. CLASS INFORMATION
READING: We will be reading a chapter book this week called Sarah, Plain and Tall. This is a quick read book with questions about each chapter. Only homework might be the questions if they are not finished in class. We will then be watching the movie version on Thursday to compare to the book. Please remember to do the weekly Reading assignment given out on Monday and is to be returned by Friday. All students are to do this assignment. Reading benefits a child. There will be a NO WEEKLY READING ASSIGNMENT.SPELLING: Hopefully your child explained how I do this subject. Grades are earned on a point system with different assignments. All Spelling work is done in CURSIVE. This is the only subject that I make everything be done in CURSIVE. Homework is always given out on Thursday and due back to school by Monday. We take a first test on Monday and if needed students get a second chance test on Wednesday. SPELLING WORDS: hearthstone, slab, horrid, wretched, murmur, eager, braid, worried, pesky, shingles, chores, bonnet, roamer, charcoal, lantern, dune, collapse, biscuit, dough, stubbornThese words are related to our chapter book that we are reading in class. The homework for this list is to create a picture dictionary, and it is due Monday 12/12 Website to help practice words www.spellingcity.com Useful for studying words for our spelling unit. ENGLISH: This week we will be learning about compound sentences, complex sentences and many more items will be reviewed. No homework for the week. MATH: We are getting ready to start Unit 6. We will get the first 4 lessons in before break. There will be a mini quiz over these lessons. The lessons will be related to word problems, division problems with 1 digit divisors (234/4) and interperting the remainder. New website to try www.multiplication.com filled with multiplication review games of facts. SOCIAL STUDIES: The class is working on the history of Ohio and some famous people related to this history. SCIENCE: Our new unit of study will be the Earth's Changing Surface. We will continue learning about earthquakes. No homework for the week Dates to keep in mind:
