     Well, It has been a very busy two and one half months. The first ranking period is upon us. I am very impressed with the work that the teachers and students are doing at this wonderful school. Grades four and five are making a major commitment to improving all our students reading comprehension, especially in the area of Making Connections to Text.

     I love the way that our students are rising to the occaison. All students should be reading and writing every night for homework. We do want parents to check in with their students and see how they are doing. Students with Learning Disabilities need more practice than their peers in reading and writing, but it should not be torture. I hope that every student is reading a great book and writing about what they love.

     Please drop me a line to let me know your concerns, or just how you think your child is doing. I would like to thank everyone for welcoming me: parents, staff and administrators, and most importantly, the students! I am so lucky to get to work with such a talented and caring group of kids.
