Other P.E. Information:

All Students will receive a rule sheet for P.E. They are to take it home and read it with their parents. Students will also receive a Health form that a parent is to sign it and return it to Coach Haldane. Students must have this turned in to participate in P.E. Students are required to dress out daily in the LHMS P.E. Uniform or approved alternate uniform (solid black athletic shorts & plain grey t-shirt - no logos). The uniform cost is $15.00 ($6.00/shirt, $10.00/shorts, $15 if you buy both together).

Students, take your uniforms home at the end of the week for laundering.

Make sure you have your agenda each week, as I will try to sign agendas for those students with grades falling below a "B" each week.

Cold Weather Days: Students may wear sweat pants/sweat shirts, warm-ups and/or jackets over their PE uniform. They may not wear their school clothing. Please dress appropriately for these days.

Make Up Work: If you are absent or unable to participate for an extended period of time, you may write a 1 page sports report for each day. You'll find many sports teams below that you can write about. Tell me about the history of the team, the players, what they are doing in their current season, etc.

So who is Haldane? A Seminole and a Moccasin; attending both Florida State University and Florida Southern College.

What's up with all the teams? I've lived in a few different places, so I root for more than one team. But since I was a kid, it's always the Cowboys first!

What about these teams? These are other football teams (current and past) from other professional leagues that called Tampa Bay and Orlando their homes. "Bandit Ball" was exciting with Coach Steve Spurrier. Besides the Tampa Bay Bandits, the USFL (United States Football League) also fielded a team in Orlando (The Renegades). The Tampa Bay Storm are 5 Time Arena Champs and the Orlando Predators are 2 Time Champs. Catch the War on I-4. The AFL is shutting down for 2009, but please come back soon!  The World League came to Orlando and brought the Thunder. And finally, The Rage came to Orlando to play in the XFL (or the WWE on grass). Short lived, but exciting. Looking for some football but can't make it to Tampa or Orlando? The Thunderbolts are lighting up the AIFA (American Indoor Football Association) inside the Lakeland Center - 2007 Champions! The Bolts didn't play in 2008, but they're coming back in '09.  Come check them out!

The Magic and Sonics?

I lived in Seattle when the Supersonics won it all in 1979. But I was here when The Magic came to Orlando. Hopefully, the Magic will win a title too.

Hockey? Let's Go Lightning! 2004 Stanley Cup Champs!!! I saw The Cup; even touched it! I lived in Buffalo long before the Lightning existed, so me and the Sabres go way back. No titles, but still love 'em.

Who are these guys?? Lakeland has had 3 professional hockey teams since the early 1990's (The Ice Warriors, The Prowlers, and recently The Loggerheads). The Orlando Solar Bears were IHL (International Hockey League) Champs, but the league is now folded. The Tallahassee Tigersharks provided a lot of enjoyment during my college years at FSU. I moved away, and so have they.

Remember Pele? Probably not, but I do. Many consider him the best ever, including me. He played 3 years for the N.Y. Cosmos - 5 Time NASL Champs. In Tampa Bay though, the biggest name was Rodney Marsh of the Rowdies. They were champs in 1975. Sadly, they and the North American Soccer League (NASL) are long gone. Soccer is back with the MLS (Major League Soccer) and an exciting team came to Tampa (The Mutiny) starring Carlos Valderrama and others. The league still exists, but the Mutiny doesn't. Too bad.

The Big Red Machine - my team as a kid. World Series Champs - numerous times. In 1993, Florida finally got a team - The Marlins, and I got hooked. Thank you for 2 World Series Championships. Now let's get the Devil Rays one!! 2008 American League Champions! And I Love the DOME! Nothing better than baseball, hot dogs, and A/C inside on a hot or rainy day in St. Pete (and No Rain Delays!) Also, don't forget to support your local minor league team, whether you live in Lakeland or Buffalo, or wherever.

If you've never watched or played Lacrosse, you're missing out. I love the 4 Time Champions! Congratulations 2008 National Lacrosse League Champions!! Go Bandits!  You can catch local lacrosse by supporting Florida Southern College in their Inaugural Season in 2009.  Go Mocs!!!

Other Information:

I don't like to be on the computer a lot, but I'll update as much as I can. Don't forget to check out the flashcards! See if you can name all the muscles. Apparently my flashcards disappeared. I'll have to work on it.

remember... get your game face on!
