Special Note to Parents:

Welcome to Fletcher Middle School and the 2009/2010 school year!  This is going to be a great learning year for all of the children on the Pelican Team.  If you need to get in touch with me, I prefer that you call me at 247-5929 and leave a message on my voice mail; or you can e-mail me at boddens@duvalschools.org.  Please give me 24 hours to get back to you.

All children should begin doing a daily 10-minute review (the review can be anything from times tables, vocabulary words and definitions, new skill started the same day in class, an old skill to keep it sharp,...) in addition to any writen work of the day.  You may be surprised at how this little bit of study time adds up and how easy it is to keep grades up to a "C" or better with this as part of a daily study routine.

In the coming months, parents will soon have access to their children's grades on line and another way to keep up with assignments and other items.  Be looking for information on how to access this service coming your way.  I will use School Notes until then.

Tues. Oct. 20-Wed. Oct. 21 = Skills Practice - Grade Recovery Days - Wed. 10/21 is the LAST day to turn in any missing work and/or extra credit-this deadline will NOT be extended.

Also begin review for Quiz #1 (11/5) - Skills to be covered =  Given a pair of parallel lines cut by a transversal, find the measures of certain angles without using an angle ruler (as in assign.# 2); find the angle measure that is complementary or supplementary to a given angle (as in (SD) p. 42 #6,7,8,9; find the angle sum of regular and irregular triangles and quadrilaterals using rule: (n-2)X180 = angle sum (where n = number of sides)

Tues. Nov. 3 = Angle Sums of Polygons - Assignment #3 = (SD) p. 62-63 #1a,3,5; also printed notes (FCAT Reference Sheet)

PARENTS: Report cards go home today-please sign them and have your child return to the issuing teacher by Friday, Nov. 6.If you would like to set up a parent/teacher conference, please call the 6th grade house administrator's office and Ms. Pendergrass will help you schedule an appointment with the 4-core teachers.

SPECIAL NOTE FOR PARENTS: Beginning Wednesday, Dec. 2, I am pleased to be offering a help session (every Wed.) from 9:00-9:30 a.m. in room 439 to all Pelican students. Children can come in for extra help on an assignment, skill, preparing for quiz, work on extra credit or if there is time to make up a quiz due to an absence. Children need to ask me for a hall pass either Monday or Tuesday PRIOR to the help session they wish to attend. I'm looking forward to having your child come. If there is a change in the help session, I will let you know as soon as possible.
