Mrs. DeArmit’s Kindergarten Update

 

November 23-25, 2009

 

 

 

 

Picture retake day is Monday.  Please return pictures if you would like your child to get a new photo.

 

Wednesday is a 12:00 noon dismissal.  The walkers whose last name begins with M-Z will be dismissed first at 11:20.  The children with last names with A-L will be dismissed at 11:40.  Bus riders will be dismissed at noon.  Not all districts bus home on half days please check yours and make sure and update the dismissal list.  Thanks!

 

The Santa Sale will be Tuesday, December 1st for kindergarten.  Please see the information that was sent home in the purple envelope.  Let me know if you have questions.  The children will have their buddies to help them shop, so please send a list with your child of whom he or she needs to buy for, and enough money.

 

 

 

Here is a look at our week ahead:

 

 

Language Arts

 

We will not start a new week of our reading series this short week.  Instead, we will celebrate reading by learning the parts of a book, making bookworms, discussing fiction and nonfiction books, and reading books with our 8th grade buddies.  We will have a favorite book show-n-tell on Tuesday.  We will also read together Wild about Books, What Happened to Marion’s Book, and Charlie Cook’s Favorite Book.  On Wednesday after we read with our buddies we will write letters to Santa Claus.

 

 

High Frequency Words

Math

 

This week we will review squares and triangles, make patterns with shapes, and practice combining shapes to form new shapes.

 

 

Religion

 

This week we will work on the scripture story, “The Good Neighbor” and have a visit from Sr. Cathy on Tuesday.

 

 

 

Science and Social Studies

 

Our study of the pilgrims will culminate with a lesson on the First Thanksgiving.  We will also discuss what we are thankful for as well as how blessed we are.  On Tuesday we will read Gracias, The Thanksgiving Turkey and make some turkeys.  I hope you all have a fun, peaceful holiday and get to Gobble till you wobble!
