Students should record their previous readings and continue to fill in the log each night. Complete logs are due on Monday of next week! 11/9/09 SOCIAL STUDIES TEXTBOOKS HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED! Students should now have a World History (blue cover) textbook for home use. Textbooks will be collected at the end of the school year. ***************************************************************** HOMEWORK (Both readings may be used for tonight's reading log entry!) Language Arts: Read the passage, "Creatures in the Night." Then answer the comprehension questions. Social Studies: Complete the Geography of Ancient Greece organizer using Chapter 8 section 1 of the World History textbook. **Students began completing this organizer in class and should have a good understanding of how the geography affected trade and the development of city-states. ********************************************************************* HELP NOTES ********************************************************************* Before, During, and After Reading Strategies: PREDICT, VISUALIZE, CONNECT. QUESTION, EVALUATE, SUMMARIZE When answering comprehension questions, go back to the text and re-read to find the correct information! Remember to answer each question in a complete sentence using correct capitalization and punctuation! Identifying the proper sequence of events requires identification of clue words or prhases such as: first, next, last, finally, then, one day, the next day, at the same moment... Making inferences requires thinking about what is not directly stated in the text! Facts will be directly stated and able to be underlined in the text. Inferences can be made by thinking about the information and deciding if something COULD be a result. SOCIAL STUDIES Map skills involve multi-step processes. Make sure all directions are followed when completing map work. |
