Welcome to Sacred Heart School Kindergarten School Notes Please note: The date of the Pilgrim Trip to the Wildlands Conservancy in Emmaus has been changed to Monday, November 23, 2009, due to the school turkey dinner, which was scheduled for Tuesday. Please forgive my delay in getting this information to you, and any inconvenience the change may have caused you, if you had planned to join us. Scientist of the Day: Ryan There is more than one way to inflate a balloon. Ryan carefully funneled baking soda into a balloon. Then he attached the balloon to a bottle half filled with vinegar. Soon the vinegar began to bubble, and the balloon inflated. Vinegar (an acid) mixed with baking soda causes carbon dioxide gas to release and inflate the balloon. A chemical reaction! The class was also able to think about the three states of matter ... a solid, the baking soda, which just sits there; the vinegar, a liquid, which is wet and takes the shape of the container it is in; and a gas, the most explosive state of matter which blew up a balloon. Thank you, Ryan! Happy November Birthdays Andrew D.
