COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to teach basic keyboarding skills, which consist of fluent manipulation of letter, top row/symbol, and basic service keys by "touch." Emphasis is on daily use of a computer system with word processing software to provide integrated training through a learn/practice/sustain/asses plan of skill building. Communication skills are reinforced as students format, compose, and proofread. The student will be able to:1.01 Implement proper keyboarding technique
1.02 Execute the touch method in operating the alphabetic keys.
1.03 Execute the touch method in operating the number/symbol keys.
1.04 Execute the touch method in operating the numeric keypad.
2.01 Classify computer components and understand technology vocabulary 2.02 Explain care of the computer environment 4.01 Apply correct language skills in keyed documents 4.02 Apply paragraph formats effectively 4.03 Create a spreadsheet 4.04 Create a table GRADE PERCENTAGES WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:Test and quiz 25%, Classroom work 65%, Homework and keyboarding technique/speed 10% All materials will be provided for the class except for a pencil. Students are asked to bring their agenda and something to write with to class each day. CLASSROOM RULES 1. Instructional time is very valuable; please arrive to class on time. Students arriving late will receive an unexcused tardy unless they have a signed note. 2. Walk into classroom quietly, in uniform (shirt must be tucked in), and with agenda in hand. Sit at assigned computer and follow instructions on the board. 3. Abusing computer equipment will result in losing computer privileges. Load only programs that you are instructed to load. 4. Keep your hands and feet to yourself and be respectful of others at all times. 5. The school wide rule of No Gum, Food, or Drink will be strictly enforced. 6. When working at your computer, use your HELP sign to indicate you need assistance. 7. We take pride in the cleanliness of our school so therefore clean up your work area and return your folder to storage box before leaving classroom. 8. Instructional time is very valuable; please visit restroom before or after class.
