Some of the things that we will cover the next few weeks are:

Math- adding and subtracting, money, and time. Please review the value of coins and bills with your child. Students will also need to review telling time. Remember boys and girls...the short hand is the hour hand and will point to the hour. The long hand is the minute hand and will point to the minute.

Science- Matter and Heat. We will be exploring and investigating the three states of matter: solids, liquids, and gases. We will also experiment with how these states of matter can be changed! This is a fun unit and there will be many fun experiments. We will need to remember our science safety rules during our lab times!

Reading/English Language Arts- We will continue to read out of the third grade basal reader each week. We have been learning about fantasy/realism, character, graphic sources, and sequence.

We have also been learning various word studies. This nine weeks we will learn and explore about synoyms, antonyms, prefixes, suffixes, and reviewing vowel sounds and spelling patterns.

Please remember to refer to your homework sheet every day for your nightly assignments. You will also find the vocabulary words and definitions on the homework sheet. Remember, you will have a reading and spelling test each Friday! STUDY STUDY STUDY!!!

Writing- We will write various composition pieces this year. We have been working on descriptive and narrative writing this nine weeks.

Please remember to complete your Reading Log on the back of your homework sheet each week. Remember, I will collect these every Friday!
