Essential Questions: How will observing physical properties help you interpret the world around you?Active Summary: Monday- We will begin class with a warm-up and essential question. We will begin the first quarter with chapter 10 section 1 “physical properties and changes”. We will review the section focus transparency “water, water everywhere” and students will define review and new vocabulary. Students will then complete a lab where they model the composition of matter using gum drops and toothpicks. Tuesday- Students will begin class with a warm-up and essential question. Wednesday- We will begin class with a warm-up and essential question. Students will complete a “volume and density” activity worksheet and following that activity, students will complete a lab “determining volume”. Thursday- We will begin class with a warm-up and essential question. We will review section 10-1 “physical properties and changes” using the LCD projector and PowerPoint. Following the PowerPoint presentation students will complete a teacher made reading comprehension guide for section 10-1. Friday- We will begin class with a warm-up and essential question. I will demonstrate two labs to the class titled “paper changes” and “acid wash jeans”. Following the demonstrations students will complete a “solid, liquid , and gas” pyramid foldable activity.
