8th grade - will continue to work on their persuasive writing and design product descriptions in class for an advertising campaign.

Persuasive Writing Project – Advertisements

In small groups, you will need to come up with a marketing campaign that will persuade consumers to purchase the product you are advertising.

You must choose an existing product, do not make one up.

You must decide who the target audience will be. This is important, because the campaign must be suitable to the age group.

You must come up with a slogan. You need to choose one of the propaganda techniques – bandwagon, testimonial, vague or sweeping generality, or loaded words. Unless you are going to market real estate.

You must use adjectives that will lure your customers to the product. You do not have to include price, unless it will help the cause. You must provide as much product information that would be suitable for the ad.

What needs to be done:

·      You must create a poster with the product illustrated and a slogan – think magazine page.

·      You must come up with a presentation. You need to sell the product to the class. We are the ones who must approve of your presentation. You must explain a little bit about the product and its background – this must be researched! Then you will tell us who will buy the product, price point, and how you intend to advertise this to the public – magazine, newspaper, billboard, tv or radio. Your speech must be on index cards to be submitted.

·      Finally, you must submit a typed paper that will include your position statement, supporting details and a conclusion.

·      Due March 19th
