Upcoming Field Trip:  InshaaAllah, we're planning a 6th grade field trip for Thursday, Dec. 3.  It will take place at the Palo Alto Baylands with Save the Bay, which will involve canoeing and learning about the importance of conserving the Bay land and water.  The field trip fee will be $20.  More details will be sent home soom.  You will also find attached files with information on this Save the Bay trip.
 
Final Exams
 
Final Exam time is coming soon.
Language Arts final takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
 
The final exam will test on skills from the following chapters and info:
  • Reading: From Literature Book Chapters 1 and 2
  • Grammar: From Grammar book Chaptes 1,2, and 3
    • Chapt. 1 all
    • Chapt. 2 reflexive/intensive pronouns; nouns; adjective; indefinite pronouns
    • Chapt. 3 conjunctions; verb; preposition; adverb;


  • Writing: Students will write a how-to essay or personal narrative.  During the week of Nov. 16 students will write this essay during four 45-minute classes.  Although students may plan their essay at home, students' writing will be collected at the end of a 45-minute session, and returned at the beginning of the next session to continue writing their essay.

Homework:

Home-Writing:  Students are expected to write for up to one hour weekly. This hour may be divided throughout the week or in one day.  Every Monday, students are required to bring to class their home writing accomplishments of the hour.  If the student has not completed the final draft of the assignment, he or she may take it home to continue working on it during the new week of home writing.

Students may use the rubrics attacted to this school notes page to assess their writing.  These rubrics will be used to grade the writing.
