Welcome back students.  I am looking forward to a fantastic year!!

The first unit in health class is entitled, "Surviving High School".  We will be discussing various stressors associated with school including the pressures of school work, social issues and appearance.  Some helpful hints designed to help students manage the stress and be successful are note-taking tips, staying focused on schoolwork, how to make homework less, studying for tests and secret for staying motivated.  The second phase of this unit addresses conflict resolution, appreciating diversity, anti-bullying and violence prevention.

In physical education students will be completing their first of five series of Physical Best Fitness Assessments.  This involves the one-mile run, curl-ups, push ups, sit-n-reach, trunk lift, BMI and body fat measurements.  Students are encouraged to be self-directed by recording their own scores, comparing those against national health fitness zone standards and setting personal goals in the various areas of fitness.

PLEASE REMIND YOUR STUDENT(S) TO BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHES TO EVERY PE CLASS.  A LOCK TO USE IN THE LOCKER ROOM IS ALSO RECOMMENDED.
