Class Schedule

7:45-8:00- Unpack/bathroom

8:00-8:40- Morning circle time (attendance, calendar, weather)

8:40-9:00- Snack

9:00-9:20- Activity

9:20-9:40- Recess

9:40-10:00- Whole Group instruction ( Story and Promethean board)

10:00-11:00- Centers (Center work is found in the mailbox organizer)

11:00-11:40- Lunch

11:40-12:00- Pack-up/ bathroom/load buses




Substitute Information

All materials needed for each day can be found in the mailbox organizer behind the teacher desk.  Each slot is labeled by day.


Unit/Theme- The Mitten

Letter- Jj Number- 5/Five Color- Blue Shape- circle



Whole Group-

Monday- Read the story. Watch the video of the story. The Mitten flipchart. L 12a  

Set- Est. obj., relate obj., involve learner- TSW review the number 5 by singing the five song and counting dot cards aloud as a whole group.


Tuesday- Read the story. TSW using sequencing pictures to retell the story.  The Mitten flipchart. L 12a

Set-Est. Obj., relate obj., involve learner-   TSW review the color blue by singing the color word song and playing “I spy”.


Wednesday- Read the story. L12a  The Mitten flipchart Numbers on mittens activity.  Morestarfall.com (5)

Set-Est. Obj., relate obj., involve learner- The students will use their magic pens to shywrite the letter J and the number 5.  


Thursday- Read the story The Mitten. Count and match  flipchart page.  L12a

Set-Est. Obj., relate obj., involve learner- After reviewing shapes, the teacher will give each student a shape.  When the teacher calls the shape the student is holding, they will follow her directions in which center to go to.


Friday- Read the story. Baba's colored yarn flipchart page. L12a

Set- est. obj, relate obj., involve learner-  Let's count to five together. Now, who can count to five for me.



Center 1- Academic center

Monday- TSW counts sets up to 5 and write the corresponding number. M26

Closure- What did we practice doing today? Hold up ___ fingers....


Tuesday- TSW identify objects that are blue.  M24 a-b.

Closure-What color did we talk about today?  How do we spell blue?


Wednesday-  TSW use dotters to make the letter J and the number 5. M26 HS 32

Closure-  What letter did we make today? What number did we make today?


Thursday- TSW identify and color all circles. M26

Closure- What did we do today?


Friday-TSW  count sets up to five. M26

Closure- Let's practice counting aloud to five.




Center2-  Handwriting without tears

Monday- Speech with Patty


Tuesday- TSW trace lines.  TSW practice cutting using cutting grids. HS32 

Closure - What did we do today?


Wednesday- Speech with Patty


Thursday- TSW use letter cards to spell first name.  TSW use handwriting sheets to trace their first name.

Closure- What did you trace today? 


Friday- TSW trace lines.  TSW trace and write the number 5 and letter Jj.

Closure- What did you trace today?  What letter did we practice tracing?


Center 3- Read It Once Again

Monday-TSW color, cut and sequence the animals to our story "The Mitten" H34, L13, 14

Closure -- What are we making?  What animal goes into the mitten first? 


Tuesday- TSW color, cut and sequence the animals to our story "The Mitten" H34, L13, 14

Closure -- Can you tell me the animals that go into the mitten in order?


Wednesday- TSW color their book "The Mitten" to take home when finished. H34, L13, 14

Closure -- What book are you making to take home?  What color is the ….


Thursday- TSW color their book "The Mitten" to take home when finished. H34, L13, 14

Closure -- Which animal is your favorite?  What color is it?


Friday-  TSW finish coloring their book "The Mitten" H34, L13, M24
