Grade Homework Policies

Even though the students are in 2nd grade, they are responsible for their homework.  They must learn how to do their assignments in a timely fashion and have all the necessary books and supplies to complete them.  Every year the students will have more responsibility, so it's important to learn this now.

The students write their homework in their planners at the beginning of the day.  It is on the Smart Board and I do not take it down until all the students have written their homework.  They are required to write their homework completely & correctly.  They have plenty of time in the morning!

The students are responsible for bringing home all necessary books & materials.  I tell them what books to bring home and it is written on my side board to remind them.  They are responsible for completing all assignments.  All homework is due the next day unless otherwise noted.

Homework can be collected & graded at any time.

Studying is homework! Just because your child doesn't have written homework doesn't mean they don't have to study.

Parents MUST check & sign their child's homework, planner, and take home folder every night.

A signature is required on all tests below 80%.  Parents are responsible for checking the Cornerstone/Educate site for their child's grades.  Please email me or the office if you do not have your user name or password.

Any homework not completed will result in a demerit or a ten point deduction.  This is the St. Lucy's School homework policy.

If a student is absent, he/she must complete the homework in a timely manner.  I give students plenty of time to complete assignments if they are absent.  I do not deduct points from an assignment or project if a child was absent.  If homework was due a day he/she was absent, it MUST be brought in the day he/she returns.  Ten points will be deducted or a demerit will be issued if the homework is not turned in.

Your child's full name must be written on all homework sheets.  FIVE points will be deducted from any papers that do not have a name! The students are reminded to put their names on their papers every day!

I understand that things happen that are out of our control.  Life happens, especially with kids.  That being said, please DO NOT email me excusing your child from homework unless there was an emergency (severe illness, death in the family).  I will not accept any excuses for why an assignment was not completed.  The students must learn to be responsible for & deal with the consequences of their actions.
