WELCOME TO
  6th Grade Reading

            *************************************

ITEMS TO NOTE:

Exams start Friday. Students are to study binder pages 24-42 for the exam.

      AR  HOME CONNECT:

We are now using a computer software program called Renaissance Place at school for AR. This program has a special feature called Home Connect. Home Connect is a fun, easy-to-use, easy-to-understand web-based interface that allows students, parents, and the teacher to share in the educational experience by viewing progress in AR while outside of school. Students will not be able to access AR tests from home, but you will be able to look at tests taken, scores, points, and information about books.

To log in to Home Connect

Web site: https://Hosted88.renlearn.com/707785/HomeConnect/Login.aspx

Students use their regular AR login and password. This information is on the Home Connect letter I sent home a couple of weeks ago.

In Home Connect you can also:
Click Email Setup to sign up to receive emails showing your student's quiz or test results.
Click Help
to get answers to your questions about Home Connect.

You can view Home Connect from any computer with an Internet connection using these browsers:
• Internet Explorer® 6.02 or later
• Firefox® 1.5 or later
• Safari™ 2.0.3 or later

* Click on the link below to look up AR books. Once you are on the site, click on the Advanced Search tab. Then look in the middle of the page on the right hand side and click on the 2000 point scale. Next, type in the title of your book. http://www.arbookfind.com/UserType.aspx

3 Students need to bring their AR book to class everyday. Students will receive 20 pts. a day for having their AR book and reading it silently during SSR each day we read in class.

*** Homework EVERY night is to read at least 20
    minutes in your AR book

REMINDER: If a student does not read every night for at least 20 minutes it will be difficult to complete a book before the deadline.

Parents if you have not read the AR Guidelines
please ask your child to show them to you.

A minimum of one book test has to be taken by each of the following AR deadlines: The highest grade will be entered into the gradebook for each deadline. At the end of the 9 weeks, the 2 highest test grades will be recorded. If a student has a 3rd test grade of a 100, it will be used as an extra credit grade.

5 When a student takes an AR test, they fill out their Reading LOG. When the student finishes the test, I write the grade on the log, and the student is to take the
Reading LOG home to be signed.

*The students are to keep the Reading LOG in the Reading section of their binder. The students can not take a test on an AR book until they have the test before it on their Reading LOG signed.
