Parents, It's our last full week! Students will begin their final exams on Friday. They will have their language arts final on Friday (May 18). Students will receive a study guide on Monday. We are back to our normal dress code this week.
Sunflower seed are absolutely NOT allowed on campus or on the school bus. If students are found with sunflower seeds, they will be written up.
We're seeing a lot of tardies in the mornings. Students must be here by 8:25 in the morning or they are counted tardy. Two tardies will result in a long form. Reminder: Cell phones should be turned OFF (not on vibrate or silent) and should be kept in the student's backpack. Students cannot wear hoodies to class (items that pull over the head and do not unzip down the front), cannot use eReaders for anything other than reading, cannot sell anything at school without prior permission, or bring pocket knives to school.
Reminder: Students should not be passing notes in class. This has been causing some serious problems in class. Please talk to your child about being careful what they put down on paper...you never know who will see it!
Our next book will be the Newberry Award winner, The Graveyard Book, by Neil Gaiman. It's a retelling of The Jungle Book, but instead of being raised by animals, the protagonist is raised by the creepy creatures of a graveyard. We won't begin the story until late this week. I have a classroom set of novels, so students aren't required to purchase their own books unless they want to have their own copy. We will be covering figurative language with this novel.
Reminders:
*All students need to bring in a $10.00 fee for science and $10.00 for the technology/educational resources fee. *Please check your child's planner every Monday to see what homework assignments, tests, quizzes, and reminders they have for the week.
*All students must have a belt. It would be a great idea to send a belt for your child's homeroom teacher to keep in the classroom in case of emergencies.
*No gum is allowed in the classroom. Students caught with gum receive an automatic short form.
