Mrs. Barkley's Class Date Updated: February 7, 2010 Looking forward to a full week of teaching your children. The few days we had in class last week we learned how to find percentages of numbers when calculating sales tax, discounts and tips. The skill involved is a life skill and hopefully the students are retaining this information for their future. We will also be learning about simple interest and what happens when we borrow money or place money in savings. After making sure that your children understand these concepts, they will be given a project to complete that will be worth two grades this quarter. I will post the details regarding the project at a later date. Please call or email with any questions or concerns you have regarding your child's education and what we cover in math class. I will be glad to discuss with you your child's progress and where we need to be by the end of the year. Although we did not get to have tutoring last week due to inclement weather, it will start back this week and the remaining dates are found below. When I tutor, we may go over homework for those who are struggling, or we may talk about strategies to help students that are having difficulty understanding math concepts. Just know that I teach AIG cluster classes and regular education classes and I have a variety of abilities in my classes. The tutoring dates for the remainder of the year are: February 9, 17 and 23 March 2, 9, 25 and 30 April 13, 20 and 27 May 5, 11 and 13 |
