WELCOME!

3rd Quarter -

Novel study - Students just finished our first novel study of the year. We read the documentary novel "Nothing But The Truth" by Avi and discussed such life issues as rights, patriotism, discipline, and perspective. Students had a end of the unit project called a "Bloom's Ball" in which they had 12 different activities to complete to demonstrate their understanding of the concepts in the novel. We worked several days in class and then students were asked to finish for homework. Please make sure your child has completed and turned in this assignment.

Problem Solution Writing - Students were taught the thought process behind real world problem solving as well as the organizational structure for writing a good persuasive paper. In groups they brainstormed solutions to problems and individually wrote a paper arguing for their solution. They will be assigned additional papers with similar prompts and structure.

Classscape - Students will begin taking weekly 10 items classscape test online at school in the month of February. We will focus on reading comprehension, and specifically, (goal 3) argument. If your child is absent on Wednesday, they will need to make this up at home or during homeroom or study hall.

CHECK THE SCHOOL CALENDAR FOR SOCIAL AND ATHLETIC EVENTS!
