Technology Department Mr. McDuffeeConstruction Systems I(Room 181)
This course will provide the students with the opportunity to acquire skills in the area of basic construction. Emphasis is placed on the understanding of how to safely and properly use a variety of hand and power tools. The use of a variety of materials as well as joinery techniques will be discussed and experimented with. Students will also become familiar with careers that are associated with the field of construction. This course focuses on problem solving and decision-making processes through the completion of projects.
Class Objectives 1.Students will use safe and proper techniques while working in the construction lab.
2.Students will work cooperatively in the lab. environment to produce a variety of small projects.
3. Students will understand how planning and design of a product are key components of the construction process.
4. Students will understand how the machines in the lab. can be used to perform a variety of functions throughout the construction process.
5. Students will explore careers that are associated with the field of construction.
6. Students will begin to understand how concepts discussed in the lab. environment will affect their lives today, tomorrow and in 20 years.
