Introduction To CAD

(Room TE-3)

 

This course will provide the students with the opportunity to acquire skills in the areas of computer aided drawing and design.  Emphasis is placed on the understanding of how to manipulate within the program in order to achieve the desired results.  Students will also become familiar with careers that are associated with reading and producing three-dimensional drawings.  This course focuses on problem solving and decision-making processes through the completion of projects.

 

Class Objectives

1.    Students will use several software formats to produce individual designs and drawings.

 

2.    Students will understand basic drawing concepts as they relate to layout techniques used by industry.

 

3.    Students will work independently and in small groups to complete individual assignments.

 

4.    Students will understand how industry uses these drawings in the design and production of products ranging from everyday objects to sophisticated military devices.

 

5.    Students will research careers associated with the field of Computer Aided Drawing

 

6.    Students will begin to understand how concepts discussed in the class will have an affect on their lives today, tomorrow and in 20 years.

Note: Class attendance is critical. Unexcused absences and tardiness will be made up after school at the teacher’s discretion.
