Mrs. Powers' Language Arts Classes Tree Frog TeamHappy February! I hope to see everyone soon! Language Arts 1st/2nd- We are continuing on our new thematic unit of study centered around the concept of Cycles of Change. This week we will work with the sixteen most important literary terms. Please continue to LEARN the parts of speech so we can make them a part of our literature discussions! This week we will use literature webs and other graphic organizers to discuss what we read. Please study for our Wordskills test on Lesson four scheduled for Friday. The students did an excellent job teaching each other the meanings of the words. Nice job! LanguageArts 5th/6th period- Our focus this week continues to be text structure, and we will focus on chronological order. We will continue to explore how authors organize text and how understanding the order can help with comprehension. Understanding how authors organize information can make reading easier! We will continue with Wordskills Lesson 4. Our test will be on Friday. ALL Classes: We will begin blogging weekly third quarter. Blogs and two comments on other students in YOUR CLASS ONLY will be due on Tuesday nights by midnight. A new blog assignment will be posted on Wednesday. If you cannot blog at home, you may blog between 8:00-8:10, during homeroom, or any other time your teacher will allow you on the computer. If you arrive early to school, you may go to the office to request to come to my room for extra help or to blog. ALL CLASSES WILL CONTINUE OUR WORDSKILLS STUDY.
