 READING

Our story this week is Hedgehog Bakes a Cake.  The Vocabulary words for the week are

BATTER, BUTTERY, PERFECT, RECIPE, SMEARED, YELLOW CAKE

Test  Fri. Nov. 13

I try to get the students into a set routine during the week.  They will have many of the same homework assignments during the week.  On Mondays, the students should LISTEN to the story being read to them by a parent or older sibling.  They will also have taken their Spelling pre-test and they will write any missed words three times each.  They will be writing their Spelling words in ABC order on Monday, also.  On Tuesday, the students should read the story aloud to you and write vocabulary sentences with your help for homework.  On Wednesday, they should read the story aloud again. On Thursday, they usually have a workbook page with Vocabulary words for homework.  There are Reading and Spelling tests every Friday.

SPELLING

The spelling words are found in the flashcard section.  This week's words are -our- with the sound of /or/.

Test Fri. Nov. 13

MATH

Please practice memorization of the addition and subtraction facts at home.  We are working on Doubles Facts and Neighbors.

RELIGION

We have completed the first chapter in the book and took the quiz together.  I will be reading the upcoming quizzes aloud for a while, but they are responsible to know the information.  As we go through each chapter, we highlight the information that will be on the test.  Make sure you review all highlighted sections before the quiz.

PHONICS

I always begin the year with the vowel circle.  We complete the circle together with the help of Mr. and Mrs. Magic Wand.  Ask your child to tell you about them!  When we finish the vowels and consonants in class, the students will create their own copy to be kept in their planners.  Look for them coming home in the future.

SCIENCE

Mrs. Pavlick will be teaching all Science Classes !!    :)

SOCIAL STUDIES

We are now beginning Geography!  We will be creating Fetaures of the Earth Books.

ENGLISH/WRITING

We are transitioning into PARAGRAPH writing.  Every paragraph has at least 5 sentences.

1. Main Idea

2. Detail

3. Detail

4. Detail

5. Summary Sentence

ART

We will be starting the TAG program soon!  If you have the opportunity to volunteer for this program, I recommend you sign up now!  It is a FABULOUS program.  The kids REALLY like it!
