Welcome To Business at Erwin Middle School

Please Bring  Pen/Pencil and Paper to Class Everyday!!!!

6th Grade:

This quarter we will be learning the keyboard and proper keying technique. Students will use Microtype, a computer based program that teachers proper technique and finger placement. Each week students will be assigned lessons to complete. The following is a schedule that indicates when lessons should be completed. (I reserve the right to modify if needed)

 Week 1 Alphabetic Keyboarding Lessons 1-5
 Week 2 Alphabetic Keyboarding Lessons 6-10
 Week 3 Alphabetic Keyboarding Lessons 11-15
 Week 4 Alphabetic Keyboarding Lessons 16-20
 Week 5 Numeric Keypad Lessons 1-4
 Week 6 Numeric Keyboarding Lessons 1-4
 Week 7 Numeric Keyboarding Lessons 5-8
 Week 8 Numeric Keyboarding Lessons 9-12
 Week 9 Numeric Keyboarding Lessons 13-16

Throughout the quarter students will be assigned timed writings that will demonstrate their improvement in regards to speed and accuracy.

7th Grade:

This quarter we will learn about the components of a computer system. Students will learn about hardware, software, and peripherals. Students will also learn how to format business documents such as memos, business letters, tables, and reports.

8th Grade:

This quarter we will learn about business concepts that are important to you. We will also talk about possible business careers that may interest you and what you should expect if you choose such a career.
