![]() Mrs. McClung Room A 15 Language Arts/ Reading GLACIER TEAM Welcome Back Students! We are ready to start another successful school year here at Erwin. Our team name has changed and we are now the Glaciers. I am looking forward to getting to know each and every student and watch his or her work continue to grow in leaps and bounds. The following is an outline of what we are going to be working on in Language Arts and Reading. August- Short Stories Rikki Tikki Tavi; Sentence Structure The first week of school, we will be writing a descriptive essay and creating a "Character Collage." This will allow your fellow team members to get to know you better. You will have two weeks to work on this assignment. September- Introduction to writing/ Letter to Author Tall Tales/ Urban Legends/ Mythology October- Introduction to informative writing and research papers Endangered Animal Report The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Monsters Are Due On Maple Street Introduction to Argumentative writing November-December- Sci- Fi- Unit Christmas Carol January- February- Introduction to Problem Solution Writing February- March- Play Unit Continue Writing April-June- Poetry Unit/ We will be focusing on EOG review as well. Novels we will be reading this year: Where the Red Fern Grows Nothing But The Truth The Outsiders Petey These books are subject to change |
