Welcome Back for the 2009-2010 School Year! This is starting out to be a great year! The new 6th graders are settling in and working on their typing skills. They will type for 4 weeks and have a typing tournament. After that we will look at different careers in the business world and learn lots of new terms. 7th and 8th grades begin by learning (or reviewing) business terms. 8th grade goes into a more indepth study of each of the functions of business such as creating a business plan, recording journal entries for accounting and understanding the importance of competition. 7th grade only touches on the functions of business and goes more indepth into the area of entrepreneurship. We learn what skills and abilities are necessary to become an entrepreneur and study some famous entrepreneurs. Both 7th and 8th grades learn about investing by playing a 4 week online stock market game. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call me at (704) 633-4775 or email to cogburnmr@rss.k12.nc.us. |
