Your child has learned a song with hand motions about 12 powerful words.  Ask your child about it, they would love to sing it for you. 

-12 Powerful Words- 

Trace  means to outline

analyze - break it down

infer - read between the lines

evaluate -to judge

formulate- build and create

describe-tell me all about it

support- back it up

explain- tell me why

summarize- the short version

compare-things that are alike

contrast - things that are different

predict- think about the future

Please read with your child every night, write the name of the book in their reading log and sign it.  Please remember to sign your child's agenda every night. To help with your child's comprehension, please remember to ask them questions about what they read.

Children need to know how to read and spell the following words:

        she, do, how, theri, if,there, use, an each, which, will, up, other, about, out, many, then, them these, so, some, her, would, make, like

In Math we will work on addition and subtraction through 18, fact famililes, extending and creating patterns, tallies, counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's .

In Language Arts we will be studying:

  Blends, digraphs, making predictions, visualizing, making connections, summarizing, retelling, and questions

 In Science we will be studying the scientific method, nocturnal animals, and landforms.
