Welcome to Mrs. Shoop's Class ![]() In math, we just finished a unit on fractions. Please let me know if your child needs more practice and I will provide you with additional resources to review/practice with at home. Key vocabulary students learned: numerator, denominator, improper fraction, mixed number, factor *We spent time learning how to compare fractions, and add and subtract fractions. This helped students when it came time to solve fraction word problems. In science, we recently finished our unit on weather. We are now learning about ecosystems. In reading, we are reviewing visualizing, making connections and questioning. Please make sure your child is reading at least 25 minutes each night and responding in their journals. We just started focusing on our new strategy: inference Reminder: When your child is out sick from school, we need a note when they return to school. UNIFORM REMINDER: School uniform colors are khaki and navy for bottoms and red, navy, and gray polo style tops. The students should also be wearing tennis shoes and belts every day. If your child wants to wear a sweatshirt in class it must be red, navy, or gray. It should not have any logos or decorations on it.
