MATH
We will be beginning our study of lines and angles. This will begin our geometry unit. In this unit students will understand how to solve area and perimeter word problems. They will also learn about tessellations and transformations of shapes.
READING/LANGUAGE ARTS
In reading, we are going to be learning about the civil war. We will begin our reading of Mountain Valor. This story takes place in the Appalachain Mountains of North Carolina during the civil war.
SCIENCE
The science fair is February 3rd. We will be doing a class project, but if your child has an idea for a science fair project they can certainly do one of their own! We will be studying rocks and minerals. If you find or have any cool rocks or minerals we would love for you to share with the class!
Social Studies
We will be studying the civil war and it's impact on North Carolina. Students will be completing a project that will begin in third quarter.
