This will be a year of accomplishment and success for every child that enters the classroom. I am dedicated to challenging and engaging students in all aspects of academics. I am entering my fourth year of teaching here at Knollwood Elementary. I am a graduate of UNC-Charlotte with a B. S. in Elementary Education K-6 (2007). I conducted my student-teaching at Knollwood in a fourth grade classroom as well. Last year was an eventful year with my wedding and birth of my daughter, Carly. I am enjoying motherhood so much and I am looking forward to all the “baby steps” Carly will be making this year! I also have a step daughter, Hailee, entering second grade here at Knollwood. She is geared up for an exciting year as well! It is very important that we have open lines of communication. Please feel free to call me at school or my cell phone if you have any questions or concerns. If you wish to email me, I check my email in the morning before school and once after school. I will try my best to return a call or email within the day. I look forward to a fun, challenging and successful year! Sincerely, Chelsea Cassels Dear Families, My classroom environment philosophy is a classroom must be a place in which every child feels comfortable to learn and make mistakes. Mistakes are an opportunity for personal growth. Your child will be shown that mistakes are an opportunity to learn. Your child will be learning in an environment in which he/she feels accepted and secure. In order for your child to have a successful year, classroom discipline and management is crucial. It is the responsibility of the teacher, parent and child to work together to ensure that each day is filled with the most valuable learning experiences as possible. Our class rules and consequences will assist in this process. Class Rules Be Respectful Be Responsible Be Cooperative Be Safe Be Productive There will be negative and positive consequences for behavior. These are outlined below:
On the attached sheet, there are outlined behaviors and consequences from our administration. Please read carefully and sign. Consequences for offenses will be determined by the seriousness of the action and on an individual basis. Sincerely, Chelsea Cassels SUPPLY LIST FOR MRS.
