Welcome to Mrs. Bowles' Third Grade Webpage! 

Wow!  The year has gotten off to a great start.

 In Language Arts we have started working in Writer's Workshop. We have also been working with our reading unit of Off To Adventure.  In this reading unit the students have been practicing identifying cause and effect.  The other skills we have been working on in reading are inferencing, sequencing and summarizing.






In Math we have been working with numbers.  The students have learned about the different forms numbers can come in:  word form, standard form, model form and expanded form.  The students have also been working with comparing and ordering numbers.  When we order numbers we work with greatest to least or least to greatest.  Finally we have been working with rounding numbers.  We are currently working on rounding to the tens, hundreds, or ones.  Our next step will be to practice our adding facts, learning addition properties and working with fact families. 






In Social Studies we have been working with map skills.  The students have been learning how to read a map.  They have also been learning about the names of the seven continents and the four oceans.
