WELCOME TO ARNOLD AND TO THE HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM

Students will attend physical education class initially. They are to wear clean shorts, shirts, socks, and gym shoes. Your student will be given a copy of our grading policy and what we expect from them while in Physical Education class. We suggest that you read the policy, sign it, and have your student return it. We will administer the Presidential Fitness Test to all students. This is a great award that will be presented at the end of the year during awards day. The test consists of the Sit and Reach, Sit Ups, Shuttle Run, Pull Ups, and the 1 mile run. If your student has a medical condition that would prevent him from participating, please send a note. If your student requires an inhaler, have him bring it to class.

I appreciate parents calling or emailing me about their student's grades. Feel free to contact me should you have questions concerning your student's performance.  Please send your email address to me so that I can send reports to you. Students who get behind in their assignments will have the opportunity to make up the work but will not receive full credit.

PHYS. ED.- SOME STUDENTS  DO NOT HAVE A LOCK. LOCKS WILL KEEP ITEMS FROM BEING "BORROWED".  PLEASE ENSURE YOUR STUDENT IS FOLLOWING OUR PROCEDURES. I WILL NOTIFY YOU SHOULD YOUR STUDENT ESTABLISHES A PATTERN OF NOT DRESSING OUT SO THAT WE CAN "NIP IT IN THE BUD".

I have noticed that several students are not following classroom rules in physical education classes resulting in them being given detention.  They are given a notification of detention addressed to the PARENTS OF:.  Some of these students wad the note up and throw it away in an effort to display their defiance.  If the student does not stay for detention, he will be referred to the assistant principal for further discipline.  Please remind your student to follow classroom rules so that all can participate in the planned activity for the day.
