Week of November 3-7

Well we made it through last week's busy schedule with Pumpkin Patch and Mad Scientist Day-- our classroom was a little 'water logged' after 5 rotations of Sink or Float activities, but everyone seemed to have fun.  The students sorted candy bones, assembled a scarecrow, dug for worms (eeww!) and found out what items would sink or float. 

This week our topic is Turkeys.  We will learn about how turkeys have become an American custom during Thanksgiving.  Remember to help your child disguise the cardstock paperTurkey homework.   Each child will have the opportunity to show the class his or her turkey's disguise.  It is always fun seeing the different creative disguises.   The turkeys are due Monday for a homework grade.

Our letter focus for the week is Pp.  Letter bags will come home Monday.  Please help your child choose an item beginning with the letter, write 3 clues and practice the clues.  Then send the bag on your child's assigned day. 

We begin a new Math topic this week, More and Fewer.  This will be a 7-8 day topic, so it will continue into next week.  We will compare numbers of items in different groups.  An introduction letter will come home Monday that will give you ideas, vocabulary and a game to play at home.  Please practice this concept.  It is NOT necessary to send the introduction page back to school.  This is for you to use at home.
