You can turn painful situations around through laughter. If you can find humor in anything, even poverty, you can survive it.

                                             ~Bill Cosby

Thank you to all the students and parents who came to Spiraling Ideas! We had a great turn-out and the students seemed to enjoy showing off their research products. A special thank you goes out to Mrs. Stockton for organizing the refreshments and to all the parents who brought cookies and waters! I think everyone enjoyed that.

Here's our week at a Glance:

May 24th ~ 28th

Monday: We'll watch the satire videos that the students have been creating. This should be fun! Afterwards, we will begin reading "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaverous County". We've been trying to get to this short story for a while but we keep running out of time.

Homework: Finish reading The Celebrated Jumping Frog

We only have one more creative writing due and that is due tomorrow. I'd love to see you create something that relates to your year in GTLA.

Next root word quiz: Wednesday the 26th

Tuesday: Project abstracts; we will write abstracts (summaries) for our products to display with them.

Homework: Last minute adjustments to your research products

Wednesday: Root Word Quiz. Discussion questions over Celebrated Jumping Frog

Homework: Come prepared for our last seminar. It will be over comedy. Study the questions that I've given you and you might look for some quotes to support your answers

Thursday: Socratic Seminar over Clouds, Satire and Jumping Frog

Homework: Begin studying for final

Friday: Review for final: 4-level; root words; literary terms; literary analysis etc...

Homework: Study for Final exam and have a great Memorial Day weekend!
