February 6th

Dear 4th Grade Parents,

The amphibian and fish heart projects turned out to be a success.   I believe they enjoyed what they were doing and showed pure cooperation with their partners.

Today we discussed compound eyes and peripheral vision.  We did a small exercise on optical illusions which they may have to finish.  The page is B51.

Tonight's homework is to do the Think and Write located on page B 53 #1-5.  There is no math link assigned.

Dear 5th Grade Parents,

We discussed in class today the nitrogen cycle and the role of bacteria in it and also composting with leaves, etc.   We discussed what happened to leaves of long ago (burning) to plastic bags in landfills, to finally biodegradable bags.    We also talked about disposable diapers and one baby's use of them.  Makes you really think.

Homework for tonight is to finish the Think and Write on page B59 #1-5.

Language Arts 5-21  We are on the unit of verbs.  The assignment is to work on page 245 ABC (SSL.)  This is on subject-verb agrement.

They are to pick out a book on historical fiction.  They are to read this book for the month of February.     It must be okayed by me.

Spelling 5-21 We had our spelling test on accented syllables.  No homework.

Reading 5-21  We had our context clue paragraph on Salsa Stories vocabulary.  Only one person had a perfect paper.  There will be another test on Wednesday since the grades were so pitiful.  The 105 went to Brian Conaty.  Great job, Brian!

If there any problems with the above, please let me know.  Thanks.

                                     Sincerely,

                               Jacquelyn Halleck
