May 16th Dear 4th Grade Parents, Although projects/experiments have been coming in at a good rate of speed, and I have enjoyed seeing them and learning something new from each, both classes have some problems now in waiting until the last minute. Unfortunately, Friday is the day that is left since there is a mass tomorrow. In one class, I know that there are 5 individual projects/ezxperiments still to go on. I am not a miracle worker. We only have 45 minutes. I believe that there was plenty of time to get something organized and presented. The dissection of the yellow perch takes a good week to complete. I hope we get to it. To dissect, they will need latex-type gloves (not Playtex,) newspaper (every day,) protective hair covering (scales fly,) protective glasses (scales fly,) baby food size jars (if they want to bring something home,) an old shirt, a zip-loc baggie of quart or gallon size, and listening skills. Any nonsense will not be tolerated. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Dear 5th Grade Parents. The projects/experiments I have seen so far have been quite wonderful. I have learned a few things that I found so interesting. I am quite happy for those who took the opportunity to get it done right away and did not wait until the last minute. It becomes a hard lesson to learn, but dissecting is supposed to happen Monday. It takes a good week to complete. I hope we get to it. For dissection they'll need gloves (latex type,) newspaper (every day,) baby food size jars, and a zip-loc baggie that is quart or gallon size. The jars are only if they want to bring something home. Goop experiment/project will be on Tuesday of next week. They'll need 2 large mixing bowls, 2 spoons, Elmer's white glue (regular or larger size.) Food coloring of their choice and a baggie (quart size) to carry the goop home is also needed. Please make sure the glue is to the top of the container. Language Arts 5-21 Although there is no homework, we are currently on the new unit (pronouns, prepositions, etc.) Spelling 5-21 The first two pages of the prefix lesson (uni, bi, tri, cent, etc) are to be done. I did not assign the last 3 pages. I will be soon. Reading 5-21 There will be a context clue paragraph on Carlos and the Skunk tomorrow. Study the 8 vocabulary words. If there are any questions or concerns with the above, please let me know. Thanks. Sincerely, Jacquelyn Halleck |
