Welcome 2017!
Happy New Year! It’s 2017!
In 2017 we will learn many new and interesting things. In Science we will learn all about polar animals. We will explore their habitats, geographic locations, and eating habits.
In Social Studies we will learn about Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks and Ruby Bridges. Imagine Ruby Bridges was only six years old when she stood up for equal rights. She was so brave!
In Math our focus will be on composing and decomposing numbers, but don’t worry those are just fancy words for adding and subtracting. We will also work on numbers to twenty and counting by ones and tens.
In English Language Arts we will read about the adventures of Tig, Ted, Doll, Ed, and Flit. Our letterbooks have new stories about these characters every week. It’s so exciting to see what will happen next! And remember, the more you practice blending the faster you read. Practicing blending also helps you write sentences.
Last but certainly not least, January 30th begins Catholic Schools’ Week. There will be many activities in celebration. Visitation will host a magician, celebrate Mass, hold a Spelling Bee, and showcase performances of The Little Mermaid Jr. Second quarter report cards will also be distributed.
As you can see, we have many new and interesting things to look forward to in 2017. I am so happy you will be a part of it. Now, let’s get busy!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Broetsky
