Wanda Helling 8th Grade Language Arts Parents: Please encourage your child to read at least thirty minutes every night. Regular silent reading helps improve grades and comprehension in all subject areas. Welcome!! This year our theme will be monsters. We will be investigating monsters throughout literature and in current events. 1st Quarter Objectives
2nd Quarter Objectives: Understand how to argue a point. Understand how to avoid bias when arguing. Understand how to write a problem/solution essay. Read a variety of materials. 3rd Quarter Objectives Understand and evaluate informational materials. These include all media. Read a variety of materials. Write a research paper. Understand how to properly analyze nonfiction. We are currently practicing EOG skills. We will do these in class and some for homework. All students are encouraged to read for at least 20 minutes every night. Please see our 8th Grade Wish List at the bottom of this page!!
