Welcome to Miss Overcash and Mrs. Bergeron's Room.

Wild About Learning

"Where I Learn Daily

Our lunch time is from 12:15-12:45.
Come eat with us anytime.  It will make your child's day!

Here are some things you can work with your child on at home:
READ, READ, READ, READ, READ
This site is great for practicing Key Kindergarten Skills
http://www.starfall.com

Another great site to check out  is http:pearsonsuccessnet.com

- 25 Kindergarten High Frequency Words
Please remember by the end of the year your child must know how to read/ pronounce/ and spell correctly each word.

-Writing First name and Last name

-
Knowledge of birth date/ address/ and telephone number

-Recognizing, counting, and writing numbers 0-30.

-Recognizing, writing, and knowing the sound of all capital and lowercase letters.

-Sound writing (Give your child a word a day and have them say it and sound out what they hear.  The spelling doesn't have to be perfect but I need to know they can hear the sounds in the word!)  Occasionally I may send home some writing for your child to complete.  It is very important that your child sounds out the words on their own.  Our writing program focuses on the sounds your child is able to produce themselves.  Please don't write it down for your child to copy.  I am unable to tell what your child can do this way.

For most children, sound writing is very difficult and frustrating.  PLEASE work on this at home too.  Make it fun by playing a game in the car.  You give the child a word and have them sound it out.  Begin with easy words and get harder.

-Our most effective form of communication is through the use of your child's agenda.  Please be sure to sign it everyday. Check for important notes regarding your child's behavior in the calendar pages.  Also check the clear pocket in the front of the agenda for homework and/or important notes from the office.

As always please feel free to contact us with any joys and concerns.

We are excited about a fantastic school year with your child!
