US History Class It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you to US History! Get your learning passports ready as we embark on a journey through time and delve deep into the past of our great country. Many different resources will be available to you as references, such as books, the internet, videos and interactive games to assist us on our educational travels. I am looking forward to an exciting and productive year full of limitless discovery. Course Description Primary content emphasis for this course pertains to the study of American history from the Exploration and Colonization period to the Reconstruction Period following the Civil War. Students will be exposed to the historical, geographic, political, economic, and sociological events which influenced the development of the United States and the resulting impact on world history. So that students can clearly see the relationship between cause and effect in historical events, students should have the opportunity to explore those fundamental ideas and events which occurred after Reconstruction. Classroom Rules
General Behavior - Each student is expected to show RESPECT to one another, themselves, the classroom and most of all, the teacher. - Each student MUST come to class on time with the necessary schools supplies, ready to work. - Each student is expected to raise his/her hand in class if they have a question or concern. - Students must be on task at ALL times. - Each student will follow the school Code of Conduct. The use of MP3 players, PSP's or other hand held devices will not be tolerated in the classroom. Cell phones may only be used in class when instructed to do so for educational purposes. Attendance - Each student MUST be in his/her assigned seat by the ringing of the final bell and must start work immediately. - Hall passes will not be provided. Students will be given two bathroom passes to use throughout the quarter at their discretion for EMERGENCIES. You should use the restroom during the five minutes allotted for the changing of classes. At the end of each quarter bathroom passes can be turned in for (1) extra credit grade. Limit 2 per quarter. - If you are tardy to class, you must have an excused pass or you will be given a detention to be served in the afternoon. No exceptions! - Students can only complete make-up assignments when they return to school with an excused admit. This work must be turned in no later than two days from when the student was absent. Violations of ANY of the above rules will result in: - Verbal warning to correct any inappropriate behavior - Meeting with the teacher - Parent Contact will be made - Detention/Parent Conference - Referral to Administration Supply List - (1) Composition Books - (1) pack of #2 Pencil - (1) Lined paper |
